The Soldier Collection at La Preghiera, Calzolaro, Umbria, Italy
Our large collection of lead soldiers plus items of military interest, and militaria, are now on display in a magnificent monastery situated in Calzolaro, near Umbertide, just north of Perugia, Umbria, central Italy, a few miles from the area used as the location for "Under the Tuscan Sun", near the battlefield of Lake Trasimeno, where Hannibal trounced the Roman army, and the scene of savage fighting in 1944.

La Preghiera - Gala Opening |
Some 30,000 pieces plus Victorian Military prints, WWII posters, books, magazines, flags and medals, will, by early autumn, be installed in a 12th century religious establishment.
Now known as La Preghiera, the monastery is situated in the heart of Italy's most beautiful county, Umbria.
John Tunstill, and his wife Liliana, who ran the Soldier Shop in London's Lambeth (just near the Imperial War Museum), will soon open the site as a Country House, catering for guests who want to enjoy five star accommodation in this part of Italy's Green Heart.
